💡 Essential Measuring Tips Before You Begin
- Use a soft measuring tape: Use a flexible vinyl or fabric tailor's tape, not a metal ruler.
- Ask a friend to help: Measuring yourself can cause you to twist or lean, throwing off numbers. Have a friend or family member measure you for greatest accuracy.
- Wear proper undergarments: Wear the bra and shapewear you plan to wear under your dress.
- Stand straight & relaxed: Keep your feet together, stand naturally tall, and breathe normally. Do not pull the tape too tight.

Step-by-Step Measurement Breakdown
1. Bust
Measure around the fullest part of your chest. Keep your arms relaxed at your sides and ensure the measuring tape stays level across your back.
2. Waist
Measure around your natural waistline—the narrowest part of your torso, typically 1 to 2 inches above your belly button. Keep the tape comfortably snug without digging into the skin.
3. Hips
Stand with your feet together and measure around the fullest point of your hips and buttocks.
4. Hollow to Floor
Stand straight barefoot. Measure from the hollow depression at the center of your collarbone straight down to the floor.
5. Barefoot Height
Measure your full height without shoes from the very crown of your head straight to the floor.
6. Shoe Heel Height
Measure the height of the heels or dress shoes you plan to wear so our tailors can ensure the hemline falls at the exact ideal length.
7. Shoulder to Shoulder (from back)
Measure across your upper back from the outer bony edge of one shoulder to the other. Especially helpful for sleeved or jacket designs.
